Blog # 31 Stephanie Ferrett's Self Titled Album.

Most of you know her from Tyler Perry's 'The Marriage Counselor' or maybe from Tyler Perry's 'Laugh to Keep from Crying'. You could have seen her on Disney's 'Cory in the House', or even ran across one of her many amazing cover videos on Youtube.

Miss Stephanie Ferrett is definitely not one to be reckoned with. She can easily be compared to the likes of old style Whitney, Mariah, and hell... Christina doesn't have anything on her... and that's coming from me, a HUGE X-Tina fan.
Why this girl isn't on every channel on our radios is beyond me. However, she did just release, PRETTY INDEPENDENTLY, her own Self Titled album, "Stephanie Ferrett".

I have to say, this album! Every Track. Every SINGLE TRACK is completely and exactly what I needed in my crazy ass life, to date. I LOVE MUSIC> I NEED MUSIC> and I had been waiting since I first saw Stephanie on Tyler Perry's play "The Marriage Counselor" for this album to come out. I've even spoken to Miss Ferrett via Youtube and Twitter a couple of times. She's given me the 'OK' to promote her using my various outlets and I plan to do just that.

Guys... if you love the styles of Xscape, Anita Baker, and then drag them over to Tina Marie, and even some Ke$ha, and Beyoncé Maybe? You are going to fall in absolute love with this amazing girl and her Power House talents. She has the shrill vocals of Mariah Carey's twin. And the range and control in comparison to the likes of Christina... I don't know how else to describe it. I know that there are 16 amazingly beautiful tracks... and if you purchase your copy on Itunes now... you won't be disappointed. Support this amazing artist!

Brandy is just "Human",

Brandy is such a beautiful and personal artist. I have always felt connected to her heart through her raspy and smoky voice. She has such ambiance that she commands with every note. Ever since "Have You Ever" she has been a MUST in my life. I am never not in the mood to listen to one of her songs.

Brandy has been through a whole lot of happenings this past few years and has really found a way for her positivity to shine through.

Her album "Human" reigns so strongly in my CD collection. Although the album didn't do as well as it should have, Brandy makes a point to write her own songs. She really demands nothing less than perfection from herself. It's made clear by her very alert and attentive personality when in the public eye. She never ceased to have a smile on her face, or to have a sweet, positive disposition.

My uncle JustArend said it true when he called "Every song on the album radio single material".

Alexz Johnson Never Ceases to Amaze...

Alexz Johnson has always had a fire about her. No matter the circumstance she never ceases to amaze her fans with her witty, beautiful, and heartfelt songs. "Skipping Stone" was debuted at her performance at The Drake on June 27th of 2011. It was a brand new song for her fans, and I have to say, as a fan of 10 years, it blew me away, as I knew it would. The song is somewhat slow, a ballad, if you will, but yet angry, and bittersweet as well. "Skipping Stone"as all of Alexz's songs have in the past, and forgive my biased-ness, struck my heart like an arrow. Something about her writing, and her singing ALWAYS seems to hit home in my LIFE. Like, my daily relationships, Everything. Anyway, getting back, THIS IS MY FAVORITE ARTIST of ALL TIME. I will never stop loving her heart.

There I was. Watching the Monique's Show on BET when BAM! Fefe! I've blogged about her before, and have been a fan since I was thirteen. I'm 22 now. I simply love Fefe's Music! If she's not on your Goddamn Ipod, I feel bad for you.

If you don't have a spot on your Ipod for Janis Joplin. There's a problem with you. Janis has the most frantic, energetic, overwhelmingly enticing voice, I've ever heard. She gets so caught up in the song. In any recording you can find of hers whether live or studio, she gives nothing less than 100%. Visit her Official Site.

Janis Joplin's boxset "Box of Pearls" is an amazing package.

Janis Joplin was born January 19, 1943 in Port Arther, TX. She passed away at 27 years old in L.A. on October 4, 1970 because of an overdose on cocaine. I am so sad that the music of hers that has survived all of these years is all that will ever be. I know she's in a better place.

I found it interesting that one of her influences musically was Big Mama Thornton. I even wrote a song myself in memoir of Big Mama.

Two artists of today, that I'm in love with, that remind me of Janis Joplin, but are amazing in themselves, are Beth Ditto of The Gossip, and Grace Potter of Grace Potter and the Nocturnals.

I find nudity as very beautiful.

Open hearts are all that can understand his music. None of the music I post is for the faint of utter humanity. Prejudice just has no place in my heart. Quite literally. I do my absolute to absorb and accept all things human.

Came upon this beautiful song via StumbleUpon.com. Jimi Hendrix is obviously amazing and undoubtedly worth mentioning. He was very in touch with himelf spiritually it seems to so many that his music can't help but resonate something within you that feels utterly mesmerizing and intriguing. You simply cannot deny Jimi Hendrix's power in the music world as far as his message, songs, and his character are concerned. Enjoy and make sure that there is some Jimi on your Ipod or otherwise player!

To me, Jimi's music is the essence of 60's and 70's music. I can probably say the same thing for many.

Blog # 21 Antony and The Johnsons is Sexy!

I have been introduced to this absolutely wonderful talent by none other than Alexz Johnson herself, via tweet. According to his [Wiki], "Antony and the Johnsons is a music group presenting the work of Antony Hegarty and his collaborators." Which is very beautiful in itself, I ultimately wish this goal for my musical self as 'SoWeirdBoy'.

Antony Hegarty himself, however is an amazing feat altogether. He's originally from England but later moved to the San Francisco Bay Area of California. That's where I'm from! Now living in Austin, Texas. But ultimately I definately want to be back home. He also does not classify himself as a man or a woman. Which I really admire in a way. I know how hard it can be to even identify as a gay male. But it is a road worth traveling. I simply lost myself in Antony's haunting, classified "dark cabaret" voice. His somber and dark tones wallow and yet still bask in the array of just how lucid and beautiful the human voice can be. If you are looking to get lost in a new artist, you may have just found one. Took my breath away! Enjoy!

Blog # 18 Lindsay Lohan is a Woman...

First off, I have ALWAYS been a LINDSAY fan. I've had my share of partying, and I know what it's like to have my share of problems. The point is, focusing on Lindsay's art. Her career, not her personal life. I can't help wondering how much more stars would be adored like in the old days, without all these paparazzi scum-bag following folks around. I mean shit, you can't make a million dollars with a camera being snapped. I guess thats how that go though huh?

Linsday is a "Household Name". You've known her since you were young, watching her on The Parent Trap, etc. She got famous because of how talented her acting is. Soon though the public and fans would learn that Lindsay has music in her soul. She is a virtuous artist with many songs, whether leaked online, or released, displaying many different genre of music. Lindsay is a star that flickers. The light is somber... questioning...

Blog #17 Fefe Dobson brings me "Joy" for Christmas!

I don't know if you've noticed, but this Holiday season, I feel like I've seen the word "Joy" just about everywhere. McDonalds is throwing out copywritten quoted 'sayings' all over the place. Starbucks even had Tazo name a tea after the word. It's a mixture of oolong, green, and orange pekoe teas, it's one of my favorite blends from Tazo. Getting back, with Fefe's new album, I finally decided the proper and healthy way to take-in this "Joy".

I am so proud of her. I can still remember the first time that I saw her performing on Nickelodeon's "All That", those many years ago. She was a young mixed punk rocker chick, and her voice was amazing. I loved her instantly and haven't kept my ears off of her music since. Like Alexz Johnson, Fefe has endured some Corporate woes as well. Her second album, "Sunday Love" has been totally shelved. She even recorded a music video for one of the songs, hows that for a contract? I know that if I put all that work into one thing, and then to have it all come crashing down, it would hurt spiritually. I'm still trying to let go of not getting the last job I interviewed for...

Fefe has kept her head up though. She has been trying to be a more positive individual and take her life into her own hands.

Her new song, "Thanks for Nothing", seems to be a ballad of a freed lover on the surface, but if you take a deeper listen; you might think of it metaphorically as her veiw on her previous trials with "Sunday Love". In real life, her views are as follows, "My real good fans, my hardcore fans, have it, so that's most important," Dobson says. "At least it got out there to a few hands, and now it's time to make a record on my own terms."[Wiki] "It was sad," says Dobson. "But instead of sitting there and being depressed and begging people for the record, I went back to the studio, got people that I knew, friends that I knew, and I started again."

This chicks a fighter! I love enjoying life knowing Fefe is always writing music!

I really love her third album, "Joy". I believe that it shows that she is a songwriter at heart and an amazing vocalist. She's talented and creative, and she always seems to have a set goal for whatever project she works on. She's really a true artist.

Anyone who's anyone knows that Alexz Johnson has been working with Aaron A . on her new music video for her new Remixed Album which is due out probably around January or February in 2011. This will be Alexz's second solo music video. Although fans are eagerly anticipating the release of the title of the new single for the video, Alexz has not waned on keeping us updated! She, as well as Aaron, posted on their Twitter accounts that they did a fitting for the video today!

This is a small update, but I sure cannot wait to see this amazing video. Stay tuned for the as of late untitled "Voodoo" Remixed album! And the upcoming unknown single and new music video due out VERY soon!

Blog #15 Adam's Album...

Adam Lambert.

I was oh-so-skeptical of this guy when he was on American Idol. Not because he was 'out of the closet' and people were actually taking him seriously, but because of his voice. I really didn't think he was "American Idol" talented," Whatever that means. He was already a pretty amazing Broadway singer though, even already starring with Val Kilmer in a play before he was even famous!

After his album, "For Your Entertainment" was released, I decided to give it a try one day. I have to say I placed it right on my CD rack when I got home and really didn't listen to it. Today however, I was stabbed with a sudden interest in the guy and snatched up the record on my way out the door for work.

I couldn't stop dancing in the car. I couldn't stop trying to match his fever pitch vocals. This guy is a screamer and he's damn good at it! No wonder he was second on American Idol. Some would argue that he should have won. I think he's pretty amazing now. I WILL be keeping up with his stuff from now on. Keep rockin' on

Blog # 14 The Queen, Latifah!

Ever since I was young, there was something about Queen Latifah that has always stuck with me. If I see Queen's face on something, I normally buy it. I can't explain it, but with certain people; I'm like that. So, obviously I have her music.

I have to say... Queen Latifah is a very versatile artist. She has a total of seven albums, not to mention all of her Soundtracks and other media.
She was on top back when Ladies-80's old school Hip-Hop and Rap was the thing.

I love her movies! Especially Set it off. Her performance as Cleo in that movie has stuck with me since I was a kid. She always puts everything she has into each role and it really shows. These days, Queen is often doing comedy roles. But her drama roles are what make really make her. I also have to say she's a natural on the stage acting scene as well. No one can forget Big Mama Morton.

She has her own perfume line and Wiki says, "Queen Latifah's work in music, film and television has earned her a Golden Globe award, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, two Image Awards, a Grammy Award, six additional Grammy nominations, an Emmy Award nomination and an Academy Award nomination."

We all know her. We should all love her.

After all she is the Queen.

Blog# 13 Sia... "The Wildchild"...

I first found out about Sia Furler when working at Starbucks in 2008 and we began selling her album, "Some People Have Real Problems". I ended up buying it and fell in love.

Sia has a very special richness to her voice. She can capture the emotion of a word just by the way she breathes in the song. She holds and rolls her syllables at times and it really adds to the gentleness of a lot of her ballads and lullaby's. I have been listening to this album all day today and decided Sia was my artist for the day!

Sia's latest album "We Are Born" is a whole lot different than the direction of "Some People Have Real Problems", however stays true to Sia's individuality and cultural rarity. A few of the songs are a ton faster and dance worthy. If you want a sultry songstress to steal your mind and heart. Give Sia a listen. It will do a body good.

Funfact: Christina Aguilera and Sia share the same birthday.
Christina Aguilera listened to Sia, and came to the point of considering Sia as one of her favorite artists of today. She worked with her on her recent album "Bionic". It's amazing!

Blog #12 Gallus Mag was hiding...

I love to buy music, but have you ever bought something and with it was a surprise? Like something unnoticed? Or maybe even... intentional? Maybe I'm talking crazy talk but getting to the point; a CD was hiding behind an album I bought. It was a burnt CD with the simple title in sloppy hand writing, "Gallus Mag".

Found this site. I can't listen so I can't tell if it is related or not. Odds are it is.

The name "Gallus Mag" comes from an interesting source and even has a ghost story involved. Checkout what Wiki has to say on the matter.

Searching online, I could only find a couple of "clues" really as to who this strange and yet, kind of remarkable band is... I feel kinda lucky that I stumbled upon this gem.

I wonder if anyone else in the world knows about this. I found this website that says that a band in Austin, TX; where I live, named Gallus Mag is now named Olive as of '98. However, I could find anything about either really...

The album is noticeably low budget, not just by the burnt CD, but, from the sound quality. The album is very consistent with a few variables. One being the fact that the entire album flows to the point of stopping mid sentence on one track and beginning again on another track. Sorta interesting. Also in a few tracks you hear what seems to be a Russian family talking while an accordion plays in the background and eventually fades into a female rocks singer. She has a shrill and high voice, yet mysterious and captivating. She reminds me of a female Perry Ferrell from Jane's Addiction. Her lyrics are very strong as well.
In one song she bellows " I can kill you because I have nothing to lose!" I love that.

Blog#11 TLC really were CrazySexyCool

This album has been on my mind since I woke up about 41 minutes ago. Frantic as to where my boyfriend's whereabouts... Found him with his family, yet still intoxicated, I can't stop thinking about, "So I creep... yea... I just keep it on the down-low, no body has to know..." Even texted a quote to my boyfriend's phone, calling the recent cold weather; "creepin' weather". Of course with all his man-ish charm, he nipped that one in the bud.
I can't stop loving him no matter the circumstance. I'm obsessed with my boyfriend. Is that weird? We've been together for two years but I just like knowing where he is at all times. That way, no matter where I am in the world, I can sit back and think, "Where is he?" And not really questioning the notion. I hope he loves me as much.

Of course they had many more albums to come, not to mention solo stuff.
Lisa Left Eye will forever be missed, and just in case you ever wanted an in depth look at her life, purchase, "VH1 RockDocs 'Last Days of Left Eye'" It's a documentary of Left Eye filming a VERY recent vacation before her death. It's really strengthening to see such an amazing artist so vulnerable in nature. Expressing her love for the world and everything in it. She was such a purest and yet, she's gone. It's a rude awakening. I hope that she forever lives on through her work, and if not, then through her intentions with the footage that is on that DVD. It's beautiful. Check it out.

Lately I can't seem to get Alexz Johnson's new song "Mary" out of my head. Even whilst I listen to other artists songs... I think the message lingers...
Decided to post the video of Alexz singing her new song acoustically to a fan who won a contest with Alexz's agency.

Alexz has never recorded this new song as far as fans know.
However, she has recently performed it a few times during her recent tour to promote her latest album "Voodoo".

Blog #9 Musical Lillypad...

When Alexz Johnson talks about her musical influences, she gets all glassy eyed and chatty and excited. I'm very similar when it comes to my favorite artists. What I love about liking one artist; is that you get introduced to other (GREAT) artists through them. Alexz Johnson has encouraged her fans to look into great artists such as:

Peter Gabriel from Genesis.

Kate Bush.

Annie Lennox.

David Bowie.

and of course...
Rickie Lee Jones.

I really wanted to listen to these artists and kinda hear what she hears. Ya know, what makes an artist... an artist? Almost anyone who is good at something can tell you about someone who they think is better. Or a master as well at least, Ha! I wanted to simply shed some light on these five people today. Even though Alexz has mentioned many more artists. Today we recognize Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, Annie Lennox, David Bowie and Rickie Lee Jones as Musical Greats.
Alexz loves 70's and 80's my music but I wonder if she still listens to all of their recent music as well.

I feel a lot better now that my boyfriend and I have talked things through. I hate feeling upset about things. But what can you do? Moving on...
Got a little spending cash today and decided to mosey on over to a thrifty and just randomly select a couple interesting looking CD's. I picked up:

GRAPEVINE/ Chronology - a young persons' guide to Grapevine-

Here's what THIS website said about them:

"The vocalist had been singing blues and soul, and the band had been influenced by the Beatles, Neil Young & XTC.....their inevitable encounter in Osaka, was the beginning of this incredibly talented group.
The band's live performances and self-released cassette tape alone were enough to quickly get people's attention and offers from major records labels.

Grapevine - Kazumasa Tanaka - Vo/Gtr, Hiroyoshi Nishikawa - Gtr, Toru Kamei- Drums and Makoto Nishihara - Bass, signed to Pony Canyon in 1997 and in September of that year, released a 5-track E.P "Kakusei" (translated into English means 'awakening / disillusion'). All in all, I'd say that this stuff is interesting to the mind that enjoys listening to anime music. I love anime. I don't know. This album just seems to flow very quick paced and very guitar rhythmic. I like Tanaka's voice a lot, for me he is reminiscent of Tokyo Hotel and yet I'm sensing... Veer Chasm? Anyway you guys should check these guys out!

I haven't had the opportunity to listen to much of this. So far I just heard a lot of yelling. I keep seeing this band pop up as a "Power Punk". I think I also read somewhere that this album didn't do very well back in the nineties. Led to the band ending a deal with Atlantic Records and signing back on with their original label Headhunter. Anyway, I hope that I end up liking it sometime. All music has it's mood.

To be honest, ever since So Weird, I have been in love with Mackenzie Phillips. Her music. Her voice. Her famous father. Her famous sisters. She is a very interesting public figure and alongside Alexz Johnson, Belinda Metz, the band Saucy Monky, Jon Cooksey and his wife Ali Marie Matheson, she holds a very high place in my heart. After her latest confession about incest with her father on Oprah and her book and audio book being released, I am thoroughly convinced that Mackenzie and I are kindred spirits. She answered me a couple times after I tweeted her on her Twitter. I sincerely hope that she records an album full of music that she has written.

Her music from Disney's So Weird is some of the closest music to me...

If you are ever down and out. Sad and Low. Aaliyah's music can always help out with the mood. She was an amazing singer and actor. Her portrayal in the Anne Rice themed "Queen of the Damned" it is thought by me to be a masterpiece character for the singer who was born January 16, 1979 and passed away on August 25, 2001. She will forever be in music history as a great artist. Support her music.

What do you do when you've been uninvited to be in someones life. One moment they're telling you that you mean the world to them and that they would do anything for you, and then after one moment. The clock strikes twelve and your back into a pumpkin. Meaningless. Left aside like trash that may or may not be rummaged through later. I'm disgusted with being unacknowledged. Blog #4 Slim Twig Shoots the Shit!

Slim Twig's latest album "A Sheik in Scores"

Slim Twig rode into my life on a Harley. Literally. No but on screen in his movie with Ellen Page called The Tracy Fragments. Slim Twig played Billy Zero, her love lust; but not for real real, just for play play, boyfriend. I absolutely love the style that that movie was filmed in. The story. The actors! Anyway. Slim Twig aside from stealing hearts with his acting, is an amazing musical artist. He makes his own sounds. Bringing back to mind the ghosts of 40's past and at other times he makes you remember that old Aristocratic Victorian in you. His voice is demanding and his style of yells and pants make you kinda weak in the knees like stereotypical hens to a crooning rooster. He knows he's got it. You just gotta take it in! His performances are crazy and wild and everyone seems to be under his spell. I can't resist his music. I seriously own every song of his that I could find. He is releasing a film called Sight Unseen soon and also just released a new free download of his new album on his blog.

Blog #3 Goodwill's are Golden

Along with my Tiana Hux album I came across a few other CD's I just had to have. Thought I'd tell ya'll about 'em.

The first album I'd like to mention is a compilation of the already amazing Kate Bush called "Kate Bush: The Whole Story". Kate Bush has been noted as being one of the Greats in music. Many artists today such as Alexz Johnson note her as one of their main influences in their music. As a budding artist myself. I have to say, I look up to Kate's story telling in her music. Her shrill soprano, and her chime-y rhymes that stick with you long after her songs are over are what keep you coming back. I own her discography. Her music has changed so much over the decades. I urge any who are interested to not be afraid to venture into music that is not from your era, per-say. Enjoy all forms of music.

The Owen Bradley Sessions that k.d. lang did with him. Love this twangy album. I first came across k.d. lang when I went through my grandmothers music from under the entertainment center. K.d. was really popular in the 90's, and I guess that's when my Grandma was really into music. I love k.d. because I feel like she is very true to herself. She knows what music she likes. She's not afraid to experiment with music and release it. She is also openly gay.

I accidentally bought a single by Erykah Badu thinking it was one of her albums, but it features three neat versions of her hit "Southern Gul" so I guess it wasn't all bad? Right? She's pretty amazing.

Tears for Fears "The Seeds of Love". So far I've only listened to the first two tracks. But over a nice bowl, I couldn't help but exclaim to by boyfriend Brian that I loved the sounds I heard emitting from the disk player. Can't wait to listen to the whole thing.

Rachael Yamagata was shown to me by a random customer who burnt me Rufus Wainwright CD's once. I really love her song, "Be Be Your Love". Her album is a symbol of art.

Last but not least, I simply could not pass up the opportunity to own the Mortal Kombat Soundtrack. Who can forget not only the iconic single track from the album, but the saga itself. I love Mortal Kombat and also recently purchased the Mortal Kombat Armageddon game. It literally features every single character every created. All in all the music on the soundtrack is very 90's energetic techno pop. It's very airy and repetitive. But likable if you're into that sort of thing.

Well thanks for letting me get that out. I hope to be able to discuss my favorite artists and possibly shine a little light into somebody else's music library.

Tiana Hux is very open with her sexuality and very blunt in her lyrics. I really admire her "I got it so I flaunt it!" attitude. She is sorta like a Country sounding Texan meets Eminem style rap. She is pretty amazing if I do say so myself. I can't stop listening to her "Everybody knows you dance like you FUCK, you dance like you FUCK" filled hit, "Properfukt".

Hello everyone and none.

My name is SoWeirdBoy. I am a singer and I have decided to create this blog in order to simply paste my love for all things human. Notably music and media. When I find something that is worth talking about, I get those strange butterflies in my stomach to tell other people about it. Like the other day how all my life I've only been able to listen to Geri Halliwell's music via the internet. I stop by Half Price Books and there was an old used copy that now reigns true; next to all of the burnt copies of her music on my CD shelf. I want to go down the list and tell you all, if anybody, why the music I choose to listen to is so amazing. Whose to say my opinion is anything. But if anything, I hope I can make you find something new that you might never have otherwise found. Enjoy this new endeavor and feel free to respond with your comments as well.

Sitting here... high as a mutha fucka and chillen' with my boyfriend after a long day. I can't help but consider the fact that I call life. I can't help it. I simply cannot help noticing that feeling deep inside me to understand the spiritual awareness around me. I feel that it is in Politics. And this worlds religions. The media also simmers up a disgusting realization that our lives are trying to be ruled. Cigarette. I think so... ha. But why?
